MBNMS Coastal Discovery Center Now Open!

Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Discovery Center is open to visitors at San Simeon Bay. Staffed by trained docents – many of whom have volunteer experience at the Morro Bay Natural History Museum, Hearst Castle, Friends of the Elephant Seals, and the Piedras Blancas Lighthouse – the Discovery Center features a tank of live rainbow trout, a talking tidepool, and a video voyage to the deep sea. If you are interested in being a docent, sign up for the Fall training session by calling (805) 927-6575.
